How to Build a Guitar

HD-28 - East Indian Rosewood

The Martin HD28 is a herringbone adorned D28 with scalloped bracing. The sides and back are East Indian rosewood. This kit supplies all the parts needed for a complete guitar, you simply supply the glues and finishes. The sides and back are color selected and book matched. The sides are pre-bent and contoured from Martin with a 15 foot radius on the back. The blocks are mahogany and the neck joint is dovetailed. The top wood is Engelmann spruce or Sitka, depending on availability. The X bracing is scalloped and the fingerboard and bridge are rosewood or what martin has available at the time. The binding used is boltaron in white with a thin black accent. The back strip is the zigzag for the herringbone. This is one of the most familiar Martin guitars out there. I built my first guitar with this kit, and was surprised and pleased with the results. Please note: item picture is of a sample kit, not the exact item you will receive.Martin KIT18RHD
